The Johnson’s farmstand has been part of the Sycamore community since 1884. John Johnson purchased the property one mile west of Sycamore. This centennial farm has supported four generations. In its history, crops that have been harvested include corn, soybeans, oats, and hay. Beef cattle, swine, and chickens have all been raised here. In addition, the farm supported a dairy operation.

In the past 26 years, the farm has continued to evolve. Presently, it has become a source for homegrown, hand-picked sweet corn in the summer. Followed by a large pumpkin patch and corn maze in the fall.

We believe agriculture sustains and enhances every life.

The last decades have found more and more families losing their connections to agriculture. Our goal is to support the education and image of agriculture. We can share with visitors the “roots” of agriculture. We can share how our fertile soil is cared for. We can share how crops are planted, maintained, and harvested. Simply, our hope is to give visitors a better understanding of where food products come from.

TESTIMONIALS

  • It’s an urban farm very readily accessible to people in Sycamore and DeKalb. With kind, caring people in charge of it, the maze is fun and the choice of inexpensive pumpkins very impressive. I am confident anyone will have a good time. The Johnson family farm is truly special.

  • They have a very nice maze with optional 2 or 8 acre mazes, great pumpkin and gourd selection, some farm animals during the day, and a campfire going on some nights! The owners are super friendly and they have done a great job with everything. I highly recommend it for a local place to go for fall festivities!

  • We love it here! The maze is always really good and there are games that go along with it. The owners are super nice people and there's always a little bonfire that everyone hangs out at afterwards and shares their maze stories. Highly recommend!
